Better Communications, Better Quality of Care Surveys conducted by The New York Times and Harris show that more than half of Americans agree that having the ability to communicate electronically with their healthcare providers and access to their medical records will improve the quality of care. Broken down, the survey revealed that three out of four Americans would be interested in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) functions, including electronic tools to communicate with physicians (74%) and schedule appointments (75%). In addition, two thirds would like the ability to receive diagnostic test results by e-mails (67%). Similar results were obtained in a survey conducted by Deloitte Center for Health Solutions which also noted that consumers want "convenience" and would be willing to pay for it.
