I2QmedEP Meets "Meaningful Use"

Today the Internet has become a strategic delivery vehicle for every provider in the service industry, from banking to education and now healthcare. More than ever patients, and now the federal government, are demanding medical practitioners to be online. In fact, in the December 30th 2009 release of the "Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Record Incentive Programs ” the proposed “Meaningful Use” criteria which must be demonstrated by providers, to qualify for incentive payments up to $64,000.00, reinforces the importance of having an online presence. Listed are the 2 Meaningful Use criteria for patient electronic access that must be demonstrated. Objective (1): Provide patients with timely electronic access to their health information (including lab results, problem list, medications list, allergies) within 96 hours of the information being available to the EP. Measure (1): At least 10 percent of all unique patients seen by the EP are provided timely electronic access to their health information. |
Objective (2): Provide patients with an electronic copy of their health information (including diagnostic test results, problem list, medication lists, and allergies) upon request. Measure (2): At least 80 percent of all patients who request an electronic copy of their health information are provided it within 48 hours."
